An in-company, hands-on training package in the basic skills required to conduct hearing tests on adults, primarily within general practice and health assessment organisations.
Students will learn how to conduct audiometry, perform otoscopy and manage several elements that can affect the accuracy of hearing test results.
While many audiometric testers have received brief, on-the-job instruction this often results in limited accuracy and confidence that the test is being done well. Formal training, however, makes a significant difference. A University of Washington (US) study found that formal training increased accuracy, competence and confidence in practitioners. In turn, this can enhance the quality and reputation of individual practitioners and businesses.
Through a combination of lectures, The Audiometry Basics Workshop teaches students the best practice methods and skills, designed to enhance confidence and skills.
Participation in the Audiometry Basics Workshop can earn up to 8 CPD points.

The 1-day, in-company Audiometry Basics Workshop provides efficient, hands-on training for small groups in the basic skills required to conduct hearing tests on adults, primarily within general practice and health assessment sectors.
Students will learn how to conduct audiometry, perform otoscopy and manage several elements that can affect the accuracy of hearing test results.
Conducting a hearing test looks simple enough however there is more going on than meets the eye. In fact, research reveals that formal training produces accuracy, competence and confidence in practitioners. In turn, this can enhance the quality and reputation of the service provider.
The Audiometry Basics Workshop is taught to small-medium sized groups. This allows our teachers to provide one-on-one, hands-on practical tuition and individually tailor each student’s development of audiometry skills.
Note: This workshop is only offered in-company for organisations with a small group of nurses/practitioners requiring training.

Here’s what some of our previous students have said about the Audiometry Basics Workshop:
“We were all very positive about the training. As nurses, we now all feel more confident in our practice and have more knowledge about what we’re actually doing and why. This was the outcome we wanted and makes doing the test more interesting. The course also highlighted how important it is to ensure we’re doing things the same way and correctly.”
Susannah, Senior RN, Perth, WA (July 2012)
“The course was really informative. I particularly liked the hands-on practice and now feel equipped with a new skill. It will definitely play a significant aspect in my career as a nurse. The course was thorough and informative.”
Mark, Registered Nurse, Perth, WA (September 2018)
“This course allowed me to consolidate the limited theory and practice I previously had. I’m now much clearer and more confident about performing hearing tests from here on.”
Raymond, Occupational Health Nurse, Qld (November 2015)
